Collections
Cornell
University Library's collections are built and managed by a group
of more than forty selectors and curators (see selectors
by subject). The Department of Collections, Reference, Instruction,
and Outreach (CRIO) is a key component of Cornell University Library's
decentralized collection development infrastructure. The Department
is home to ten of the librarians who select materials for the
Olin and Uris Library collections, which contain Cornell's largest
holdings in the humanities and social sciences.
As a unit of Cornell University Library's Division of Instruction, Research, and Information Services (IRIS), the CRIO Department represents selectors and collections at the IRIS Administration level and coordinates the efforts of IRIS selectors in collaboration with Cornell's Associate University Librarian for Collections and in conjunction with the Library's subject-based selection teams. The Department also provides certain administrative services for collection development across Cornell Library system.
The Coordinator for Collection Development serves on CUL's Collection Development Executive Committee and convenes bi-monthly meetings of Olin Library selectors.
